A trade ban imposed on the Sydney Swans looks set to remain with the matter failing to get a mention at the latest AFL Commission meeting, held in Hobart on Friday.

Swans chairman Andrew Pridham has labelled the ban senseless and asked for it to be lifted, arguing the two-year sanction, which still has almost 12 months to run, imposes a serious restraint on trade impacting players and clubs.

But AFL chairman Mike Fitzpatrick didn't offer much hope for the Swans.

"We haven't made a decision on that today, we haven't considered it," he told reporters after the meeting.
