NSW Swifts captain Kimberlee Green is rated just a 50-50 chance of playing in her team's trans-Tasman netball competition semi-final on Sunday, but will likely be given to game day to prove her fitness.
The Swifts and Diamonds midcourt linchpin has been hampered by a calf issue which has limited both her playing and training time over the last two weeks.
She is scheduled to travel with the team on Saturday, the day before their clash in Hamilton with New Zealand conference winner, the Magic
Green didn't play in the final round game against Queensland and only the first half of the conference eliminator against West Coast.
She missed last Sunday's conference final against the Firebirds.
Green is scheduled to travel with the team on Saturday, the day before their game in Hamilton.
"She's an absolute key for us, so we will try and give her every opportunity," Swifts' coach Rob Wright told AAP on Friday.
"But at the moment she is probably only 50-50.
"I will give her as long as possible, I probably won't make that call till game day."
Wright stressed he wouldn't be taking any risks with Green, especially with the world championships less than three months away.
"We'll also be conservative, I don't really want to risk her, not only for us, but for the Diamonds," Wright said.
"She is improving, but we'll just have to wait and see."
Wright said Green was still able to do some training.
"Just decreasing the amount of running she does," Wright said.
"She still does a lot of the ball work and her passing stuff and more of our tactical stuff."
He said goal keeper Sharni Layton would lead the team if Green doesn't play.
