Rising Australian swim star Brianna Throssell will feel like a fish out of water at this year's Rio Olympics - but she's well prepared for the experience.
Throssell shocked even herself by finishing fourth in the 200m butterfly at last year's World Championships in Russia.
After booking her spot for Rio with a personal best time at last week's selection trials in Adelaide, Throssell now has the chance to take home an Olympic medal.
The 20-year-old is trying to prepare herself as best she can for her Olympics debut.
And although her finest work will be done in the pool, Throssell has also been working on her walking stamina to help her adapt to life in the athletes' village.
"I've never really been in a village situation where you walk everywhere," Throssell said.
"Being a swimmer, we're water-based animals.
"But we should get used to walking everywhere, so when we get to Rio, we're not going to be shocked by having to walk 10km a day."
Meanwhile, 17-year-old West Australian Tamsin Cook insists she's not going to merely make up the numbers when she makes her Olympic debut.
Cook is the youngest member of the swimming team headed to Rio, but doesn't want to set any limits on what she can achieve.
"I'm not going there to get the T-shirt. I really want to contribute to the team and I'll have my own personal goals that I want to achieve while I'm over there," Cook said.
"I'll definitely go in wanting to pick up places, move myself forward really.
"I know that this is the start of my career and I want to get as much out of this experience as I can to put myself in a good position to make the team in the years to come."
