Swiss ski star Gut in hospital after crash

Swiss ski star Lara Gut has been taken to hospital by helicopter after a training crash ahead of the world championships in St Moritz.

Swiss hopeful Lara Gut was taken to hospital by helicopter on Friday following a training crash ahead of the slalom run of the alpine combined at the world championships in St Moritz.

The extent of Gut's suspected left knee injury was not yet known but her participation in the alpine combined slalom seemed highly unlikely.

She was third after the downhill run behind Italy's Sofia Goggia and Slovenia's Ilka Stuhec.

The 25-year-old Gut won bronze in Tuesday's super-g and faced an anxious wait to see if she would be fit for Sunday's marquee downhill race.
