A three-year-old boy has died in hospital after he was discovered in a pond by his father in Sydney's north.

A three-year-old boy has died in hospital after being found in a neighbour's pond in Sydney.

Police say the toddler wandered from his Ingleside home onto the adjoining property on Monday afternoon, and was found by his father, reportedly unconscious.

The toddler was taken to Sydney Children's Hospital in a critical condition and died overnight.
