Sydney divers rescued off Gordon's Bay

Two people who became disorientated while diving in waters off Sydney's east have been rescued, police say.

Four people have been rescued from waters off Sydney's east, including two men who tried to help a pair of disorientated divers.

The divers, a 30-year-old woman and 34-year-old man, were heard calling for help about 100m offshore at Clovelly Beach on Tuesday night.

Police say two passers-by who spotted the pair contacted the caretaker at Clovely Surf Life Saving Club and grabbed two paddleboards before going into the water.

The divers were helped onto the boards but because of strong currents and rough conditions, the group were swept about 300 metres south, near Gordons Bay.

Specialist officers from the Marine Area Command found the group and assisted them onto a boat.

They were assessed by paramedics but didn't require medical treatment, police said.
