Sydney FC beaten 1-0 by Venezia

Sydney FC have been beaten 1-0 by Venezia in Jesolo on their pre-season Italian tour.

Sydney FC have been beaten 1-0 by Venezia at Stadio Comunale Picchi in Jesolo before 4,012 fans.

A third minute goal to Venezia striker Riccardo Bocolan was enough to separate the sides in steamy conditions in the city about 50km east of Venice in Italy's north-east on Saturday.

Striker Corey Gameiro, who proved a handful for the Venezia's defence, and superstar Alessandro del Piero, who twice forced first half saves from custodian Alessandro Vigorito from free kicks were the Sky Blues' best.

Sydney coach Frank Farina made a raft of changes at halftime ensuring every player in his squad enjoyed 45 minutes of game time.

But the visitors couldn't find an equaliser.
