Sydney man charged over brutal baby attack

A Sydney man has been charged with the brutal assault of his girlfriend's baby, which will leave the boy wheelchair-bound for life.

A Sydney baby will be confined to a wheelchair for life after a brutal assault allegedly inflicted by his mother's partner.

Police arrested a 25-year-old man in Sydney's Hills district on Tuesday after the 13-month-old boy was rushed to hospital in February with serious injuries to his heart, brain, spinal cord and eyes.

Doctors have told police the boy had been shaken vigorously, and will need a wheelchair and special care for life.

The man has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm, and ice and ecstasy-related drug offences/ He was refused bail to appear in Blacktown Local Court on Wednesday.
