A man charged over the murder of Sydney underworld figure Lynn Tasman Jones has appeared briefly in court.
Donald Reeves, 69, didn't apply for bail at Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday and it was formally refused.
He will next appear before Central Local Court on Friday.
His arrest followed a tip-off to police two months after they announced a $100,000 reward for information about Mr Jones' murder.
The skeletal remains of the 69-year-old former safecracker and fraudster from Sydney's east were discovered by bushwalkers in the Royal National Park in October 2013.
Investigators believe he was murdered about four years earlier and his body was dumped beside a road.
The 1991 Camry owned by Mr Jones hasn't been found but a parking ticket issued to it around the time of his disappearance was paid in cash at a Sydney post office.
Reeves was arrested at Cecil Hills on Friday morning after his car was stopped by police.
Court papers allege Reeves murdered Mr Jones at Millers Point on either June 10 or June 11, 2009.
