Sydney murder accused cries in court

A man has appeared in a Sydney court charged with murder after the discovery of a body behind an inner city housing block.

A man charged with murdering another man found dead behind a public housing block in inner-city Sydney will remain behind bars after being refused bail.

The accused killer, Christopher Bouggas, 32, cried with his head bowed at his first appearance at Sydney Central Local Court on Monday.

He was charged with murder after police were called to Waterloo on Sunday night where they found the body of a 50-year-old man behind a high-rise on Pitt Street.

Bouggas, in a blue hoodie, did not apply for bail, which was formally refused.

His parents sat at the back of the courtroom during the brief mention and showed little emotion.

The matter was adjourned until November 21.
