Sydney rail staff grab alleged attacker

Railway station staff in Sydney's west chased and grabbed a man after he allegedly indecently assaulted a 16-year-old girl.

A man accused of indecently assaulting a 16-year-old girl at a railway station in Sydney's west was chased by staff and held until police arrived.

Police say at about 1.30pm (AEDT) on Sunday the girl was walking up the stairs at Liverpool train station when a 35-year-old man allegedly indecently assaulted her.

They said Sydney Trains staff were notified and chased the man when he tried to flee.

He was detained until police arrived a short time later.

The 35-year-old Iranian national was arrested and charged with common assault and indecent assault.

He was refused bail to appear before Liverpool Local Court on Monday.
