About 500 people are marching through Sydney's CBD to protest against Israel's military offensive in Gaza.

Men, women and children waved placards condemning the hundreds of Palestinian civilians who have died since the conflict began on July 8.

"Israel, USA: how many kids have you killed today?" protesters chanted outside Sydney's Town Hall.

Speakers blasted the Australian government and the international community for their "silence" on Israel's offensive.

NSW upper house Labor MP Lynda Voltz, who has travelled to the Gaza Strip, addressed the rally.

"Israel knows full well that bombing Gaza is about bombing civilian facilities," she told protesters.

"It's about bombing an area that is so densely populated that you will kill people who are innocent children, innocent civilians, and you won't get any peace."

Israel must stop the occupation of Palestinian land if it wants to achieve peace, she said.

The rally was organised by the Palestine Action Group, which is a coalition of left-wing activists, student unions and community groups.

Protesters marched through the city to Hyde Park.

It was the third major Gaza rally in Sydney's CBD this weekend.

Meanwhile, the Lebanese Muslim Association on Sunday commended NSW Labor for adopting a more pro-Palestinian position at its state conference.

Almost 900 delegates on Saturday supported a motion calling for the establishment of a Palestinian state.

More than 1000 Palestinians, mostly civilians, have died during the conflict.

Forty-three Israeli soldiers and three civilians have also died.
