A school on Sydney's northern beaches will partially reopen on Tuesday after a fire destroyed five of its classrooms.

Seaforth Public School will hold classes despite a fire on Sunday night forcing the closure of its junior campus.

A large portion of the students will be relocated to other local schools for the four remaining days of the school term.

The fire is being treated as suspicious.

Asbestos was found at the site and an Education Department spokesman said no staff or students would return to the site until it had been removed.
