Sydney siege investigation by numbers

Significant manpower and hundreds of hours were spent on investigating the gunman in the Sydney cafe siege.

THE SYDNEY SIEGE INVESTIGATION BY THE NUMBERS:

- 80 detectives across four teams initially, scaled down to 36

- 7560 "products" - inquiries and notes made by police

- 1000 hours of CCTV from hotels, motels and businesses around the city

- 200 hours of news footage and 1100 photographs from media

- 14,690 individuals canvassed by police around the siege exclusion zone

- 1500 calls to the National Security Hotline

- 170 phone calls to the Triple-0 emergency line
