Sydney skier killed in the US: reports

DFAT officials are working to confirm reports a Bondi real estate agent was killed in an avalanche at a ski resort in the US state of Wyoming.

The Department of Foreign Affairs is working to confirm reports that a Sydney man died in an avalanche at a US ski resort.

Dave Hannagan, 46, was killed in a hazardous out-of-bounds area of the Jackson Hole Mountain resort in Wyoming on Sunday afternoon, according to local media reports.

A 36-year-old American woman who was believed to have been travelling with the Bondi real-estate agent was also killed, sports media website Teton Gravity Research reported.

Australian officials were working with local authorities to confirm Mr Hannagan's death, a DFAT spokeswoman said on Tuesday.

"We stand ready to provide consular assistance, should it be required," she said.
