Sydney teacher charged with child grooming

Police have charged a teacher from Sydney's west following an investigation into alleged child grooming offences in 2014.

A school teacher from Sydney's west has been charged with child grooming offences and possession of child abuse material.

Detectives from Flemington Local Area Command say they were made aware of suspicious activities of a man in September who was allegedly using a social media platform to engage in indecent conversations with a nine-year-old girl.

A number of electronic items were seized from a Condell Park property in October and a man was arrested at the property about 6.30pm on Wednesday.

He was taken to Auburn Police Station and charged with inciting a victim aged under 10 years to commit an indecent act.

The man was granted strict bail conditions to appear before Burwood Local Court on June 30.

Detectives last week issued the man with a future court attendance notice for 14 other offences.

Police say they worked closely with the NSW Department of Education and the teacher was removed from duties in October 2014.
