The University of Sydney is the latest institution to commit to partially pulling out of its fossil fuel investments.

Sydney Uni joins fossil fuel divestment movement

There's a slowly growing global movement urging people, corporations and governments to peel back their investments in carbon-intensive industries.

Advocates of this fossil fuel divestment drive say they want to take away what they calls the fossil fuel industry's social license to pollute the planet.

The University of Sydney is the latest institution to commit to pulling out of its fossil fuel investments, albeit in part.

Spokeswoman Sara Watts spoke with Darren Mara about what this will involve and why it's being done.
