Marcela Castaneda, who killed her fiance, has walked free from court after a jury found the Sydney woman not guilty of manslaughter.

Ms Castaneda, 33, fatally stabbed her abusive partner, Gregory Peck, in their western Sydney home on the evening of February 22, 2013.

Her trial heard Mr Peck turned on Ms Castaneda when she said she wanted to cancel their wedding, which they had already postponed three times.

After he choked her so hard she couldn't scream, she armed herself with a sharp 15cm knife and tried to lead Mr Peck from their home.

When she reached the patio, he lunged at her in the doorway and Ms Castaneda plunged the knife into Mr Peck's chest.

Following five hours of deliberations, a NSW Supreme Court jury on Thursday found her not guilty of manslaughter.
