Syria just became even more dangerous

Acting Labor leader Tanya Plibersek says Russia's bombing of targets inside Syria shows the need for an international solution

One of the most dangerous places on earth had just become more dangerous with Russian aircraft launching bombing missions in Syria, federal Labor says.

Acting opposition leader Tanya Plibersek says the areas bombed appear not to contain any Islamic State forces and the missions were intended only to target opponents of the Assad regime.

"This shows once again how critical is that international forces involved in Syria work towards a political solution," she told reporters in Sydney on Thursday.
