The NSW Waratahs have won Super Rugby's Australian conference with the Brumbies' hopes of taking the title dashed after a loss to the Crusaders in Canberra on Saturday afternoon.
The Brumbies' failure to secure even a point in the 37-24 defeat means the Waratahs clinch the conference.
However, NSW were looking to beat Queensland in Sydney on Saturday night to eliminate the Cape Town-based Stormers from the top-two race.
Under the Super Rugby finals format, the top-two sides are guaranteed a week off and a home semi-final.
The Waratahs and Brumbies are equal on points (47) but NSW edge the Canberra-based side because they have more wins for the season.
