Taliban victim Malala makes education plea

The Pakistani teenager shot in the head for daring to go to school has in many ways turned the table in her home country - but much work remains to be done.

Malala beams in reunion with friend

Malala Yousafzai (pic), the Pakistani schoolgirl shot by the Taliban, has reunited with her friend.

Pakistani teenager Malala Yousufzai was shot in the head by the Taliban last October, targeted for daring to go to school.

Since then she's made a remarkable recovery, and this week she will address the United Nations on the need for better access to education for children and young people across the world.

But the situation in her own country remains dire - 3.3 million girls under 9 are not in education. The latest figures show Pakistan has the 2nd highest number of children out of school in the world.
