Tampa Bay beat Montreal in NHL

Steven Stamkos scored his first goal of the NHL playoffs as the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Montreal Canadiens 6-2 in their semi-final series.

Steven Stamkos scored his first goal of the NHL playoffs as the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Montreal Canadiens 6-2 on Sunday to take a 2-0 lead in the Eastern Conference semi-final series.

Nikita Kucherov scored twice on power plays and Valtteri Filppula, Victor Hedman and JT Brown added goals. Ben Bishop made 27 saves for the Lightning.

Jeff Petry and Tom Gilbert scored for Montreal. Carey Price allowed the most goals he has all season, finishing with 18 saves.

Game three is on Wednesday at Tampa Bay.

Tampa Bay went 4 for 8 on the power play, and Montreal was 0 for 3.

Filppula and Hedman also scored with the man advantage as Tampa Bay got its first power-play goals since game two of its seven-game opening series against Detroit.

Montreal is 1 for 26 with the man advantage in the playoffs.
