A woman is dead after her all-terrain vehicle (ATV) collided with two motorcycles in regional Tasmania.

A 64-year-old Wynyard woman was riding an ATV around 3.40pm on Saturday when two men in their 20s overtook her on their motorcycles.

Police believe the woman turned off into a driveway into the path of the overtaking motorcyclists.

The woman died at the scene, while the 20 and 21-year-old Circular Head men were taken to the North West Regional Hospital in Burnie with non-life threatening injuries.

Police said the motorcyclists were wearing helmets, but they did not know if the woman was.
