The remarkable career of indefatigable representative back Brent Tate will extend into a 15th NRL campaign.
Tate, who has overcome several serious injuries since debuting in 2001, has signed a one-year contract extension with North Queensland.
The 32-year-old will now remain with the Cowboys until at least the end of the 2015 season.
After debuting for Brisbane in 2001, Tate overcame a potentially career-ending neck injury three years later.
He would go on to win the 2006 NRL premiership with the Broncos.
After announcing he was leaving the Broncos to join the Warriors, Tate's time in Brisbane came to a premature end when he injured a knee during the third State of Origin fixture in 2007.
A second knee reconstruction during his three-year stint in Auckland ruled him out for most of the 2009 campaign.
Despite those injury woes, Tate joined the Cowboys in 2011 and has gone on to play 63 games for the club, making his 200th NRL appearance last season.
He has also regained his Queensland jersey since his move to Townsville, playing all six games in the past two years to take his tally to 21 appearances for the Maroons.
Tate was also a member of Australia's victorious 2013 World Cup squad and has made 26 appearances for the Kangaroos.
"I've really loved my time in North Queensland so it's great that I'll be able to stay here at the Cowboys for at least another season and a half," Tate said.
"I still have plenty to offer the club and happily they think the same way."
The new deal should enable Tate to not only feature for Queensland in this year's State of Origin campaign but also next year's series too.
Cowboys general manager Peter Parr says Tate's resilience is all down to his character and toughness.
"Tatey is one of the NRL's most inspirational players and he's still playing rugby league of the highest calibre," Parr said.
