Manly winger Jorge Taufua has been spared the sack by the NRL club following his street brawl with Canterbury centre Jacob Loko.
Taufua, who narrowly escaped going to prison in 2013 after spitting at a policeman on the Gold Coast, has been fined $10,000 - $5000 of which has been suspended - and placed on an alcohol ban until January 31 following the Loko incident in March.
The former Parramatta junior has also agreed to random testing from the club or the NRL and must complete an alcohol management course.
Taufua says he fully accepts the sanctions and is eager to repay the faith shown in him by the Sea Eagles.
Club CEO Joe Kelly said the sanctions were a reminder that players had duty to the club at all times.
"The altercation Jorge was involved in was extremely disappointing," Kelly said.
"While I know he is remorseful for his actions, these sanctions are a necessary reminder to him of what the club expects from players, but also what the community expects from individuals.
"As always, the Sea Eagles' welfare team will continue to work closely with Jorge to monitor his personal development.
"The measures put in place today have been determined in consultation with the NRL integrity unit."
