Manly's Jorge Taufua has vowed to keep himself out of trouble following his wild night out with Canterbury's Jacob Loko.
The powerful winger, who is yet to play this season due to surgery on his left shoulder, ankle and knee, was caught on camera brawling with childhood friend Loko outside a Sydney nightspot last month after the pair were asked to leave the premises by security staff.
Loko, was fined by Canterbury but avoided the sack for his role in the incident.
But Taufua, who narrowly missed out on a jail sentence in 2013 for spitting at a police officer on the Gold Coast is still waiting to be formally cleared by the NRL's integrity unit.
"My manager, the club and the NRL are still sorting that out at the moment," Taufua told AAP.
"For me and Jacob it was one of those wrong place, wrong time things.
"But there are no problems between us, we are both sweet. We still talk to each other every other day, it was just a bad choice to be in there in the first place.
"But I have definitely learnt from it and hopefully it will never happen again."
Taufua admits the scrutiny players are under when they go out can be frustrating to deal with but that doesn't excuse his behaviour.
"At times it can be hard and there was no-one hurt or no police involvement and if we were not footy players no-one would really care about it," he said.
"But we should have known better not to put ourselves in that situation. Both of us have had experiences like this in the past and really should have known better.
"It is a steep learning curve and we have learnt from the experience. We just have to cop whatever punishment comes our way."
