Taupau makes effort to clean up NRL game

Martin Taupau believes a conscious effort to clean up his NRL game has helped propel him into career-best form this season.

Manly prop Martin Taupau says he realised he had to clean up his game following his round-one NRL suspension for a shoulder charge.

Taupau has been penalised just three times this year and is averaging 171m a game - the fourth highest in the competition.

"I used to be overly aggressive and get into all those niggly fights. But now I'm at the point of my career where I need to start playing consistent football," he said.
