A taxi driver has disarmed a woman armed with a knife in an attempted robbery in Adelaide.

The driver was threatened by two women after he dropped them off at a Semaphore Park address early on Friday morning.

They fled empty handed after he fought back, police say.

They will appear in the Adelaide Youth Court at a later date.
