Taylor confident NRL form turn is close

Gold Coast playmaker Ash Taylor believes a change in NRL fortunes for him and the Titans isn't too far away.

Gold Coast playmaker Ash Taylor admits it's been tough dealing with the pressure of the Titans' NRL woes, but he's backing himself and the team to turn the corner.

Taylor has failed to impress and justify his $1 million a season salary in 2019 as the Titans have slumped to their worst season start.

The 24-year-old's struggles were epitomised in the dying seconds of last Saturday's loss to Canterbury at Cbus Super Stadium where Taylor had the chance to send the match into golden point but was caught on the final tackle without firing a shot.

Teammate Kevin Proctor screamed in frustration at the half following the play but Taylor says his confidence is good heading into Friday's clash with Manly at Lottoland.

"I feel as if I can take the line on now, I obviously ran the ball a few times on the weekend which I haven't done at the start of this season," Taylor said.

"I think my defence has been the best its been since the start of the year.

"I just need to start worrying about my attack now, start laying the platform and talking the boys around the park."

While Taylor is battling for form, it's a different story for his former Titans halves partner Kane Elgey.

The 25-year-old has made a great start to life at Manly after leaving the Titans last year and Taylor said it just goes to show how important confidence is for a half.

"You've got to try things to try and make it work, you've got to go outside of your comfort zone," Taylor said.

"I'm really stoked for him the way he's been playing his footy."
