Taylor Swift is coming Down Under to perform on the Australian X Factor.

The singer is at No.1 in the Australian ARIA singles charts for the third week running with Shake it Off, and is set to perform on the Grand Final of the reality TV show next month.

Her appearance was confirmed on her official website on Sunday under the blog title: "This Blog will be Short and Sweet...".

"Taylor will appear on the Grand final of X Factor Australia.(Late October)," it read.

The blog post also hinted at some other action from the pop star while she's here, directing fans to her Australian Twitter account for further details.

"Taylor Swift AU is organising a Swiftnic in Sydney on the Day of the grand final See twitter @TaySwiftAus for more info.. TAYLOR IS COMING TO AUSTRALIA...," the post continued.

The singer will be launching her next album, 1989, in October and she's revealed it will be pure pop.

She worked with infamous pop producer Max Martin (Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys) on 1989, the year she was born.

"I was listening to a lot of late 80s pop because I really love the chances they were taking, I loved how bold it was and how ahead of its time it was," she said during a live broadcast on Yahoo in August.

"It apparently was a time of limitless potential.

"Bright colours, bold chances, rebellion and the idea of that was so inspiring to me ... the idea of endless possibility was kind of the theme in the last year of my life."
