Spanish police have arrested a minor on suspicion of killing a teacher and wounding four others in an attack at a high school in Barcelona on Monday.

The alleged attacker was aged under 14, a police spokesman said, but he could not immediately confirm that he was a pupil at the school. It appeared the perpetrator had used a crossbow, police said earlier although this had still to be confirmed.

Firearms have been ruled out. State new agency EFE also said the perpetrator had carried a knife.

The teacher killed was a male, while students were among those wounded, though none seriously, police said.
