Poland moved closer to a repeat of a 2014 finals appearance at the Hopman Cup when Jerzy Janowicz and Agnieszka Radwanska beat Britain 2-1.

Andy Murray and Heather Watson lost Wednesday's deciding mixed doubles rubber as the powerful Janowicz served out a 6-4 6-4 win.

Poland lost a title bid to France a year ago at the eight-nation mixed team event.

The fifth-ranked Radwanska began the day as she beat Watson 6-3 6-1, winning for the fourth time in their series and taking just 65 minutes to earn the point for her nation.

The 2012 Wimbledon finalist profited from 36 unforced errors from her British opponent, breaking six times.

"I played much better than the first match, a couple of days here helped me out with the conditions and getting used to the court and balls," said Radwanska.

"Over the last few days, the goal was to just survive the practice. It was really, really hot and I needed to get used to it, especially since it's the first event of the season."

Murray followed up with a 6-2 6-4 singles win over Janowicz, shrugging off some lingering pain from the left shoulder that bothered him last weekend in Abu Dhabi.

Murray won nine games in a row, claiming the opener and taking a 3-0 lead in the second.

The Scot took just over an hour and a quarter to earn the vital point, breaking five times and firing 24 winners.

"I moved well and served good and got a lot of returns back and play so I was happy," said Murray.

"My shoulder felt much better today. As I'm playing the matches, it's starting to feel a little bit better."
