Ted the Schnoodle stolen in Vic break-in

A 15-week-old Schnoodle puppy has been stolen during a break-in at a Melbourne apartment.

He's a lovable ball of fluff, so it's no surprise he caught the attention of a Melbourne burglar.

A 15-week-old caramel coloured Schnoodle named Ted was dognapped on June 15 when burglars broke into a Windsor apartment, stealing two laptops, an iPad and the 15-week-old puppy.

Owner Ally says she was devastated to return from work to find her back door open, kitchen window smashed and Ted missing.

The shift worker knew something was wrong when she found one of Ted's toys outside her apartment door.

Now his absence is even more obvious because her playful puppy isn't there to greet her when she gets home from work.

"From the minute I met him I knew I wanted to bring him home and make him my little fur baby," she told reporters on Wednesday.

"He's very little, he needs his mum - I want him back."

Detective Senior Constable Katie Johnson hopes the "pretty cute ball of fluff" is returned to a vet, animal shelter or a police station.

"At this stage, police honestly aren't worried about the offender," she said.

"Just bring the puppy back."

Police say Ted is worth around $2200 but he's priceless to his owner.
