Tedesco keen on Cronk at Roosters

If the rumours are true then Cooper Cronk could be headed to the Roosters, a prospect that excites James Tedesco.

Sydney Roosters signing James Tedesco says he's excited by the possibility of teaming up with Queensland State of Origin star Cooper Cronk in the NRL next season.

The Roosters are considered a strong chance of snaring the former Melbourne halfback, and while Tedesco denied any inside knowledge; he couldn't help but smile.

"If that happens... I don't know what's going on with that but it would be awesome," Tedesco said.

The Roosters signed Tedesco from Wests Tigers back in May only to fall one game short of a grand final appearance without the New South Wales Blue.

Tedesco knew he was joining a contender, but if he's joined by Cronk the Roosers' premiership stocks will sky-rocket

"I thought they already had a strong squad as it was, I was excited enough for that," he said.

The 24-year-old played 20 minutes for Italy on Friday night in their 16-6 World Cup practice match loss against Tonga in North Queensland.

Tedesco was a shock omission from the Australian Kangaroos side but did well to put it behind him in a classy showing for the Azzuri.

He saved a certain Michael Jennings try and made a 40-metre break from the Italy goal-line.

"First hit out with the Italian boys, it takes a bit of time for combinations but happy with our team performance against a strong Tongan side," Tedesco said.

Assistant Azzuri coach and former Roosters fullback Anthony Minichiello ensured the new Rooster feels welcomed.

"I'm working with Mini as well here so I'll do a lot with him at the Roosters as well so the connection is good." Tedesco said.

Italy will open their Cup Campaign against Ireland in Cairns on October 29.
