Teen critical after 'accidental' shooting

Police are investigating after a teenager was believed to have been accidentally shot in the back during a hunting trip near Bathurst, in regional NSW.

A 15-year-old boy remains in a critical condition after being accidentally shot while hunting with another teenager in rural NSW.

The boys were at a property in Sofala, north of Bathurst, on Sunday morning when he was struck in the back with a bullet.

He was airlifted to The Children's Hospital at Westmead and remains in a critical but stable condition.

Police have questioned a 57-year-old man over the incident but have released him without charge.

He's had his guns and firearms licence seized as investigations continue.
