A teenage boy severely injured in a gas bottle blast at southwest Sydney remains in a critical condition in hospital.
The 15-year-old was walking past a car outside the Fairfield RSL on Sunday afternoon when a gas bottle in the boot exploded and the car caught alight after the driver, aged 50, lit a cigarette.
The boy was placed in an induced coma at Liverpool Hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition, a NSW Health spokeswoman said on Monday.
The male driver has been treated for serious burns and is in a stable condition in Liverpool Hospital.
