Teen foils suburban Melb burglar

A teenager's suspicions about a man knocking on his front door has led police to arrest a Melbourne man and charging him with burglary.

A Melbourne teenager's suspicions have led police to a burglar they caught with stolen money and jewellery.

The 14-year-old boy was at his Strathmore home about midday on Friday when he answered a knock at the door and spoke to a man who then walked off, leaving behind the car he had arrived in.

The boy phoned his mum, who alerted police, who charged the man with burglary, theft and drug offences after officers found a bag containing money and jewellery allegedly stolen from a nearby home.
