Teen girl stabbed at Vic shopping centre

Police are searching for a woman after a 16-year-old girl was stabbed in the neck outside a Melbourne shopping centre.

A teenage girl is in a serious condition after being stabbed in the neck outside a shopping centre in Melbourne's southeast.

The Pakenham girl was airlifted to The Alfred hospital from the Fountain Gate shopping centre in Narre Warren just after 1pm.

The 16-year-old was stabbed in the neck on a footpath on Magid Drive, outside Fountain Gate.

Police are looking for a Caucasian woman aged in her late teens, with a solid build and dark-coloured hair.

She was wearing a flannelette shirt and was last seen heading south toward the shopping centre.

Police do not know whether the victim and the offender are known to each other.
