A teenage boy riding his skateboard has died after being hit by a car south of Brisbane.

The 14-year-old was struck late on Saturday afternoon on Russell Island and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Forensic investigators were inspecting the site.

On Friday evening a motorcyclist was killed in southeast Queensland after his bike collided with a vehicle believed to have been travelling on the wrong side of the road.

The motorcyclist died at the scene of the crash, which happened about 8pm in Yandaran, north of Bundaberg.

The driver of the second vehicle was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police say initial investigations indicate the vehicle crossed onto the wrong side of the road, where it collided with the motorcycle.
