Teen train vandals cause transport woes

Teenage train vandals are disrupting services and risking their lives in Melbourne.

Teenage trespassers are being blamed for major delays on Melbourne's railway lines.

In just seven months last year, there were more than 1000 incidents of trespassers caught on the tracks, News Limited reports.

Rail authorities warn the teen train vandals are not just disrupting commuters by causing delays, but they're risking their own lives.

When Metro is alerted to trespassers in the City Loop, they are unable to run services through the affected tunnels until the trespassers are removed, according to spokeswoman Pauline O'Connor.

"There is never a safe time to be on the tracks or trespassing on the train network," Ms O'Connor told News Limited.

"The delays can range from 15 minutes to an hour."
