Teenage girl charged over child abduction

A 15-year-old girl has been charged after allegedly abducting a five-year-old from her home in central Queensland in the middle of the night.

A teenage girl has been charged with allegedly abducting a five-year-old girl from her central Queensland home in the middle of the night.

Police say the younger girl was abducted from her home in South Mackay about 12.30am on Saturday and later found in a shopping centre safe and well about midday.

A 15-year-old girl has been charged with abduction, burglary and stealing. She'll be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.

A 22-year-old man involved in the incident has been charged with possessing dangerous drugs and stealing and he'll appear in Mackay Magistrates Court on Monday.
