Teenager in coma after falling 5m at party

Alcohol is believed to have played a role in a 16-year-old partygoer's five-metre fall onto rocks at Yowie Bay.

A teenage girl is in an induced coma after falling five metres while partying in southern Sydney.

Police say the 16-year-old was found at the bottom of a property in Yowie Bay just before midnight on Saturday when she tried to climb onto an inclinator to get up to the house.

She slipped and fell onto a retaining wall before landing on the rocky shoreline below - a fall of nearly five metres, according to police.

Inspector Winston Pisani has told Macquarie Radio underage drinking is believed to have been a factor and the girl is now in an induced coma in hospital.

"At this stage she's being treated at St George Hospital, where she's currently in the intensive care unit," he said.
