A teenager and his girlfriend have appeared in court after he was allegedly clocked driving at more than 200km/h in Sydney's north while drunk and in possession of a machete.
Zichen Zhang and his girlfriend Siyu Da were spotted in a black Lexus on the Warringah Freeway at North Sydney in December last year.
Police allege the pair, both 19, were travelling at 205km/h in an 80km/h zone.
A pursuit spilled along a nearby thoroughfare and then into several local roads, police say.
When the pair finally stopped, Zhang's girlfriend Da got out of the car and started assaulting police officer, Constable Aaron Gaskell, court papers state.
Police have previously said a machete, which was 45cm long, and a 30cm blade was discovered by officers under the driver's seat.
Police say Zhang, a Chinese national, also recorded a positive breath test.
During a brief appearance at Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday, Da pleaded not guilty to one count of assaulting a police officer and one count of wilfully obstructing a police officer.
Zhang did not enter pleas on his five charges, which include driving at a dangerous speed, mid-range drink driving and being in possession of a knife.
The teenagers, who are both on bail, are due to reappear at court in March.
