Three teenagers were found safe and well after wandering off from their hiking party and spending a night lost in the Victorian bush.

The trio went missing in the Yarra Ranges National Park on Saturday afternoon while walking with a group of about 20 teenagers.

Search crews found the boys, two aged 13 and one 14-year-old, about 9am on Sunday cold but otherwise okay.

They were taken to Maroondah Hospital for observation only.

"This was a good outcome and we are glad the boys appear safe and well," Victoria Police Senior Sergeant Andrew Hives said.

It was a reminder of the need to be adequately prepared whenever setting out on a hike, he said.
