Telstra has lifted its first half profit almost 10 per cent after taking on more than 700,000 new mobile customers in the space of six months.
The telco made a profit of $1.7 billion for the six months to December 31, up from $1.56 billion a year ago.
The company said it was on track to meet its full year guidance of low single digit earnings growth.
Telstra added 739,000 new mobile customers during the first half, taking its total number of mobile customers to 15.8 million.
"Our customer focus has led to continued mobile growth with the addition of 739,000 new retail mobile customer services and an increase in mobile services revenue of 7.3 per cent," chief executive David Thodey said in a statement.
The company's 4G network now had 4.1 million customers, with further growth expected, he added.
Meanwhile, Telstra announced a fully-franked interim dividend of 14.5 cents per share, up from 14 cents a year ago.
