Ten AFL changes for Roos, Tigers surprise

North Melbourne turned over nearly half their team but it was Richmond who pulled the big surprise with the inclusions of Ben Griffiths and Reece Conca.

North Melbourne made 10 changes but it was Richmond who pulled the selection surprise ahead of Sunday's AFL elimination final.

Tigers coach Damien Hardwick has rolled the dice and brought in Ben Griffiths and Reece Conca at the expense of Sam Lloyd and Ben Lennon.

Key forward Griffiths was effectively ruled out for the rest of the campaign after he had finger tendon surgery following his side's round-17 loss to Fremantle while Conca, who has been beset by hamstring problems, has played just two AFL games this season.

It's a big show of faith in both players but particularly Conca given his hamstring issues have cost Richmond in a final before.

The midfielder hobbled to the bench in the 2013 elimination final loss to Carlton without registering a stat.

Lennon and Lloyd are emergencies along with Steven Morris.

On any other day a side making 10 changes would be the main point of interest at the selection table but Brad Scott is simply bringing back the nine players he controversially rested against Richmond last week, plus Lindsay Thomas.

Nick Dal Santo, Scott Thompson, Jarrad Waite, Michael Firrito, Andrew Swallow, Todd Goldstein, Shaun Higgins, Sam Wright and Ben Cunnington all missed last week's loss to the Tigers but return as planned.

Luke McDonald, Ryan Bastinac and Aaron Mullett were among the players dropped but have been named as emergencies.
