Ten shows glimpses of ratings form

MasterChef and Offspring have given Network Ten something to cheer about after both cracked the TV ratings top 10 on Wednesday.

It's not all doom and gloom for Network Ten after its locally produced shows MasterChef and Offspring landed in the top 10 on Wednesday.

The series rated higher than any non-news programming on the Nine Network and kept all but one of three episodes of The Big Bang Theory out of the top 10.

Cooking reality show MasterChef was eighth with 847,000 viewers, while drama series Offspring was ninth with 804,000 viewers.

It should be a satisfying result for Ten, given its precarious situation and the fact the two shows went head-to-head with The Big Bang Theory and House Rules on the Seven Network.

The Big Bang Theory is a ratings winner for Nine, although the network does tend to saturate its schedule with the US sitcom.

All three episodes on Wednesday were repeats and they finished 10th, 11th and 13th.

House Rules clashed with Ten's rating winners and The Big Bang Theory, and still pulled 1.527 million viewers to win the night.

A notable failure on Wednesday was Chris Lilley's comedy Jonah from Tonga, which limped into 43rd spot with an audience of 246,000.
