South Sydney forward Ben Te'o will miss Sunday's NRL clash with Newcastle after accepting a one-week suspension.

Te'o took the early guilty plea to a grade-one dangerous throw charge arising from a lifting tackle on Canberra's Jarrod Croker in Monday's 34-18 victory at GIO Stadium.

It was the Queensland representative's first game back after serving a one-match ban for a late hit on NSW's Trent Hodkinson in State of Origin III.

A replacement for Te'o will be announced later in the week.

Cronulla's Matt Prior will also sit out his side's round 21 fixture against Parramatta on Saturday after pleading guilty to a grade-one dangerous throw on Penrith rookie Dallin Watene-Zelezniak last Saturday.
