Terrorists bombed as Australia remembers

Foreign Minister Julie Bishop says military forces continue to do important work a century after WWI with 2200 ADF personnel serving overseas.

Australian defence forces have destroyed a number of Daesh tactical units and fighting positions over the past week.

Foreign Minister Julie Bishop told parliament it was important to note that on Remembrance Day there were 2200 ADF personnel serving overseas, including in Iraq and Syria in the fight against Daesh.

"As recently as Monday of this week the ADF took part in coalition strikes against targets in Syria and Iraq, resulting in the destruction of several Daesh tactical units and fighting positions," Ms Bishop said on Wednesday.
