Former Brisbane Lions defender Elliot Yeo had a minor shock on Sunday when he received a curious text message from West Coast.
Yeo has fitted in well at the Eagles since joining the AFL club at the end of last season in exchange for a second-round draft pick.
The 20-year-old was expecting to feature in Tuesday's pre-season clash with Fremantle, but was left a tad confused when his name wasn't on the initial team list.
"We sent out a text message yesterday with the squad, and they didn't put Yeo's name on it, so he thought he wasn't playing," new coach Adam Simpson said.
"So we got to this morning and thought, 'Where's Yeo?'.
"He's had a bit of a shock."
Yeo was soon told of the mistake, and is preparing to make his Eagles debut alongside fellow recruit Xavier Ellis.
Simpson, a former midfield coach at Hawthorn, said his previous working relationship with Ellis would prove crucial in spreading his messages to the rest of West Coast's squad.
"I've used him a little bit to help educate," Simpson said.
Simpson said the versatility of both Ellis and Yeo meant they would probably spend time on the wing, through the midfield and in defence this year.
